Vibram FiveFinger Classics

The original “barefoot” shoe that started it all. Introduced in 2006 with a low-cut and open top design that makes the FiveFinger Classic arguably the most minimalist pair of the VFF lineup. With nothing more than a bungee cord to secure them, the Classics aren’t much more than a glove for your foot. These are the closest to barefoot you’re going to get while wearing shoes.

You Shouldn’t Buy These FiveFingers If…

Due to their extremely minimalist nature Classics aren’t necessarily good for:

  • If you plan on hiking rougher trails. You may opt for a model with more tread.
  • Running/rushing water: If you plan on wearing your FiveFingers in moving water, you may look for a model that secures with a strap or laces, as the water may pull your shoes off of your feet
  • People who live in extreme hot or cold climates: Due to the ultra-thin soles, extremely hot or cold surfaces may become uncomfortable during longer exposures.
