There are so many special places to run in DC that I sometimes find my running shoes can’t seem to keep up. One of my favorite places to run is Rock Creek Park, just up the street from some luxury apartments on Connecticut Avenue. However, if you’re an avid runner like me then you know how fast a pair of running shoes lasts… Not that long. Here are my top 3 NW DC stores that I go to every time I need to buy a new pair of running shoes.

Pacers

Pacers has always been a great feel-good store for me. With 6 store locations and counting, you can really tell that Pacers is really trying to do more than just sell you a pair of running shoes. It actually feels like they care about this “running as a passion” culture and you can see it very obviously in their stores and online. For any of my friends that are willing to try running out with other amateur runners, I recommend Pacers. They offer plenty of social runs for competitive racers as well as casual runners.

Fleet Feet

Whenever I consider buying a new pair of running shoes, Fleet Feet  is one store that is at the top of my list. I like Fleet Feet because they try to tailor a specific shoe to match your personality. Since I consider myself to be a dedicated runner, I don’t mind paying a little extra for a pair of running shoes I feel good about because I know I’ll break them in soon enough. For me, there’s just something about buying the perfect pair of running shoes.

Nike

Now I’m not saying I know a lot about fashion, but I like Nike running shoes because of their style. Whenever someone is wearing a pair of Nike’s, they just seem to look cool. I think it has something to do with the fact that Nike running shoes have that casual sporty look. Or maybe it’s because I see so many businessmen slip off their loafers and slide on a pair of Nike’s whenever they need to walk a few blocks. Regardless, if you want to look good and have a solid foundation to run on, I recommend Nike shoes.

For me running shoes are more than just a pair of shoes, they’re part of a healthy life. Which is why I go to extremes to make sure my feet are cared for in a way that makes me happy. After all, at the end of a long run, a solid pair of running shoes really does make all the difference.
