3 Simple Tips to Revamp Your Diet

by Kat » on Nov 26, 2019 0

Everybody knows that making the change from unhealthy foods to healthy foods is tough. It’s not only a mental challenge but a physical one as well. Your brain may tell you to eat something and then make you feel guilty afterward, but the physical craving you had for that food made you do it anyway.

There are plenty of ways that you can help curb your cravings for unhealthy foods, but we’re going to start with the most simple steps to begin your journey into health. Keep reading to find out how you can feel better, lose weight, and become a better you.

Educate yourself!

It’s hard to eat healthier when you aren’t educated on what you’re actually eating. Take some time to learn about how nutrients can affect your body by understanding the basics of nutrition. Knowing what is going into your body and how it may contribute to weight gain (or weight loss) will help you become more aware of what may or may not be good for you to eat. Even though Dominos (let’s face it, we all love a good pizza) might sound like the perfect answer when you’re ordering pizza, there are far better things you can fuel your body with.

Read the recipe

If you’re cooking a meal for yourself, read through the recipe and analyze the ingredients and measurements of the recipe. Many chefs use a lot of butter and oil in their recipes, which can make a seemingly healthy dish more calorie-heavy than you would think. Whether you substitute those ingredients with healthier options or reduce the measurements, you want to make sure that whatever you’re making is the healthiest version possible.

Portion properly

One of the easiest ways to lose weight is to simply give yourself smaller portions. Portion sizes have been increasing over the years, leading to more weight gain and food intake than necessary. If you’re eating out and you get a large portion, don’t eat all of it — you can always take it home. Also, eat slowly! If you eat too fast, you’ll be eating more food than your body needs to feel full. Finally, stop when you’re full – don’t overstuff yourself.

These are just a few tips that can help start your weight loss journey or help you become a healthier version of yourself. Leave a comment below if any of these tips have helped you or if you have anything to add that has helped!
