Gym laundry, the worst laundry

by Grace » on Sep 07, 2017 0

There’s nothing quite like a good workout and working up a good sweat. Getting home after working hard and taking a nice, hot shower is one of the best feelings in the world. Unfortunately, even after you are clean, your clothes are not. And no one likes to have dirty, smelly gym clothes lying around. So what to do with them?

Naturally, the answer is to wash them. Unfortunately, that doesn’t always do the trick. If I don’t want to do laundry every single time I workout, sometimes my workout clothes go a couple days without being washed. It’s gross, but it’s a reality. However, on a sidenote, I feel like I am still doing a better job at doing laundry than a lot of people. This survey from a dry cleaning business totally grossed me out.

Anyways. I am sure I am not alone when I say that even after a good wash, my workout clothes just don’t smell completely clean. However, there are some great ways to fix that. One method that I recently discovered is to soak them in white distilled vinegar before washing them. This helps break down oils that may be in the fabric so that the bacteria can’t stay.

Something else that might help is to do a simple ‘sniff test’ before throwing things in the dryer. If the clothes still have a nasty smell after they’ve going through the wash, it’s not going to be any better after it gets cooked in there. Don’t throw smelly clothes in the dryer unless you want smelly clothes to come out of the dryer.

I love getting home after a workout, but I don’t like what it does to my clothes. Getting the smell out, and keeping it out, can be tricky, but it is doable. Even though I don’t always do it, try to wash as soon as possible and don’t put smelly things in the dryer. It’s just not right.
