To Run, But Where to Run

Most days, I just stick to my typical route — I know it well and can run it without thinking. It’s perfect for a routine. Some days, however, it’s nice to get a change of scenery. For me, this typically means a weekend run when I have extra time to really appreciate my surroundings. It makes the run about more than just daily exercise.

Most places in the United States, metropolitan or otherwise, provide an array of scenic spots to explore. Sure, you may have to drive 20-35 minutes, but hey, it’s all for the sake of a memorable run!

I live on the East Coast, so I’ve been blessed with amazing running options. Between the seemingly endless trails and beaches, I feel so spoiled! Plus, when you travel to any eastern state, there’s always a fantastic place to explore. One of my favorite special runs is when I get out early and watch the sunrise. There are plenty of picturesque places to watch a sunrise, so there’s no excuse not to try it! (Just get your coffee maker prepped the night before.)

Regardless of where you are, even if you just go to your local park, I highly recommend watching the sunrise either as a halfway point or the finish line of your run. It’s an incredible way to start the day.
