Vibram FiveFinger KSOs
The second installment in the FiveFingers lineup, The KSO (for “Keep Stuff Out”), is arguably one the most popular models to date. Though they feature a slightly thicker soles than the Classics and Sprints with the addition of a 2mm EVA footbed, these have been the go-to shoe since their introduction in 2008. With the introduction of a closed top and the security of a hook and loop strap, the KSO’s have been the most robust addition to the lineup.

What These FiveFingers Will Help You Do
With the KSO’s, (with few exceptions) your imagination is the limit. Here’s just a few things they’re good for:
- Running
- Light hiking/trekking/bouldering
- Weightlifting
- Aerobics/yoga
- Casual wear (especially for folks who don’t care for the ballerina slipper look of the Classics)
- Travel
- Watersports
People Who Should Buy the Vibram FiveFinger KSO
- Runners
- Athletes
- Hikers (on milder terrain)
- People who want a minimalist casual shoe, but don’t care for the open-top design of the Classic
- Boaters/Watersport enthusiasts
You Shouldn’t Buy These FiveFingers If…
There’s not much your KSO’s can’t handle, but there are these few exceptions:
- You’re a hardcore hiker: As with the Classics and Sprints, the razor-siped soles don’t provide much traction on exceptionally muddy or rocky terrain.
- You live in more extreme or wet climates: The KSO’s take the weather better than the Classics or Sprints, but don’t insulate from heat/cold all that well. Also, if it’s wet out, so are your feet.
