How Our Running Community Can Support The City of Boston

by Kat » on Apr 23, 2013 0

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, we have a lot to be thankful for. It’s easy to fixate on the horror of the day and the brutal manhunt, but out of respect for the runners, the victims, and their families, this community is joining the efforts to offer support and kindness to those affected by the tragedy.

It recently came to light that the sports apparel company, New Balance, donated $1 million to the One Fund to support the people of Boston – particularly those most affected by the horrific events. This is an incredible gesture and will surely help the families of the victims in the following weeks.

Here’s how you can show your support.

Donate to the following organizations:

One Fund Boston

The Richard Family Fund

The Lu Lingzi Scholarship Fund

Krystle M. Campbell Memorial Fund

The New England Patriots’ Fund

The American Red Cross

Race for Boston

Participate in these marathons  to support the victims.

Or, you can check out the Boston Athletic Association website for information about qualifying for the 2014 race.

As always, in this type of situation we can’t undo the physical and emotional damage inflicted on the many runners and their families, but we can do our part to help fellow athletes and the Boston community. Boston – stand strong. They picked the WRONG city.

And, don’t miss this David Ortiz clip.
